Food served by smiling carhops on roller skates is a feature of the new Sonic Drive-In restaurant in Towson. While the mobile waitresses bring an interesting touch to the busy corridor of East Joppa Road, where the fast-food restaurant opened quietly last week, it is a far cry from the staid longtime business that inhabited the site, Baynesville Electronics, which closed its doors in December 2016 after 61 years.
Baltimore County will expand a program to stamp out rats to 10 neighborhoods, including three in or near Towson. The move is scheduled to take place in July.
Officials have been touting as effective the rodent eradication program, which launched last summer as a pilot in 13 county neighborhoods. The expansion of the pilot program will include Loch Raven Village and Knettishall in Towson and neighboring Ridgeleigh in Parkville.
The Baltimore County Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a plan to transform the Bosley Mansion in Southland Hills into luxury condominiums.
“The Bosley Mansion is a historic gem in Towson, and the expansive lawn is a key green space for the Southland Hills community,” Councilman David Marks said in a statement. “I believe the plan for condominiums at this site is the most realistic plan for renovating the mansion and preserving as much of the green space as possible. I appreciate the strong support from the Southland Hills Improvement Association, the Greater Towson Council of Community Associations, and the Preservation Alliance of Baltimore County.”
