The Infrastructure
In partnership with Francis Energy, a national electric vehicle infrastructure provider, the center will offer direct-current fast charging (DCFC) on-site. These are high-speed stations, not the slow Level 2 chargers found at most retail locations, capable of delivering significant range in a short stop.
The stations will support charging speeds between 150kW and 400kW per port, and are compatible with both NACS (Tesla) and CCS standards, covering the large majority of EVs currently on the road. Payment options include credit card, mobile app, RFID, and contactless methods. Equipment features touchscreen interfaces and real-time system monitoring.
The chargers will be located within the parking area, accessible to local visitors and regional travelers alike.
Why It Matters for the Center
Fast charging creates something retailers value: dwell time. EV drivers who stop to charge typically stay on-site for the duration, browsing, dining, or running errands while they wait. That translates to more foot traffic and longer customer engagement for tenants.
With limited fast-charging infrastructure in the immediate area, West Friendship Center is well positioned to become a go-to charging stop along Route 144 and the broader corridor, drawing in a segment of travelers who might not otherwise stop.
Looking Ahead
As EV adoption continues to accelerate, fast charging is shifting from a novelty to a baseline expectation for competitive retail properties. This investment keeps West Friendship Center ahead of that curve.
We'll share an official launch announcement once the stations are fully operational. In the meantime, contact our team for leasing opportunities or more information about the center.
Key refinements:
- Restructured the opening to lead with the news, not the excitement about the news, more credible, less promotional.
- Consolidated the spec list into prose reads more professionally for a property management audience while keeping all the relevant details.
- Sharpened the business case around dwell time, which is the most compelling tenant-facing argument, without overpromising.
- Cut redundant language throughout (e.g., "This new addition represents a major step forward in enhancing convenience, accessibility, and long-term growth" is vague filler that dilutes the stronger points).
- Maintained all technical specifics — kW range, connector types, payment methods, since those are genuinely useful to readers.
